Just got a small pile of hardback volumes of my long poem, “The House of Trees”. Quite pleased with how they have come out. After a few false starts, I went with Blurb. Having a solid book with paper pages is a joy. Not aiming for any mass market ( wherever that is ), particularly with poetry!
If anyone is interested, a few copies are available from http://www.greenmanshop.co.uk so please go and have a look.
Each spread has an image page facing the text pages, derived from photographs I took in Skye last autumn.
Congratulations Simon. it’s quite beautiful.
congratulations! it must be fantastic to see your words in print.
Well, the process is certainly easier than going with publishers. We have done a lot of commissioned non-fiction books, and by the time they come out it’s just a relief to have the hassle over with….
Looks greast Simon, and graphics as well. Kudos.>KB
Thank you. I’m planning the next few now – things mainstream publishers would be unlikely to be interested in…
What they are interested in seems gimmkey, unfathomable and trite. I don’t understand the animal of ‘Contemporary Poetry’. It is neither man nor beast, fish or fowl–though much of it is foul in its posture. Golod luck.>KB
Nowt so strange as folk….
fantastic Simon. Fantastic.
A real relief to turn real pages!….
Gorgeousness!!! Congratulations to you, Simon, well done 🙂
Thanks. I have yet to go through it with a fine tooth-comb to locate errors I missed! But the general look I am pleased with. The equation of effort + appearance + cost is pretty acceptible for what I want. I will try a full colour book soon – more costly but also much more unlikely to find a mainstream publisher who doesn’t wield a barge-pole….
So true lol Much success always, Simon, you deserve it! 🙂
what a feeling!! YAY YOU!!
They look lovely. Congratulations.
congratulations dear! I’d buy anything written by you… unfortunately I can no longer turn the page of a book, so, I’ll delve in your beautiful writing herein ~ Blessings !
Well, it’s nice you’re here!
Barnstorming work.
Hee, hee! taa!
