My first collection of poems is now available from Smashwords.( http://www.smashwords.com ) it contains one hundred and eleven poems compiled from my first year’s blogging, up until December 2012. This is my first attempt at e.publishing, and as far as I can see it seems ok – looks really nice on Kindle.

The majority of the works are from the last two years, with a selection of earlier poems spanning four decades. Next project (when I’ve fully recovered) will be to publish “The House of Trees: a poem of thirteen parts.” and then maybe a volume with a mixture of word and image (a lot more unpredictable in how it will work on different reading platforms, though I believe).

I chose Smashwords because it offers multiple platforms and seemed to be easy to use. Apart from difficulties with a recent Mac version of Word (where I couldn’t find out how to make bookmarks and hyperlinks, probably my fault), it was a pretty easy process ( with a backup older version of Word and a clever wife!). The download instructions are as clear as they could be – certainly better than some others like Mobi.

Congratulations Simon. I hope your publishing venture works well for you. If I may ask, had you ever tried any literary publications prior–meaning I can see your pieces being up to snuff ,as they may say for such a foray. But, I do enjoy your work–your use of history, legend and myth are dear to my heart.>KB
Thanks. No, never really done any poetry publishing before,except in a few very tiny mags too many years ago. Would love to do real paper stuff, but have had a fair amount of experience with getting non-fiction stuff published and I think I’m maybe becoming allergic to the process!…..
